Founder-led · MDI-focused · Private peer review

Make insulin decisions visible.

Visibility means seeing the full decision trail: the inputs and settings used, the estimate reviewed, the dose actually logged, and the outcome that followed.

Built by Dan Feeney—living with Type 1 diabetes and using multiple daily injections.

Living with Type 1 diabetes on MDI means important decisions can be spread across a glucose reading, a trend, carbohydrates, timing, insulin settings, exercise, reminders, and what was actually logged. I wanted a clearer way to look back at that trail without pretending the software could replace judgment or care.

Bolus Master brings user-configured calculations, dose and exercise logging, timing reminders, and retrospective pattern review into one mobile-first workflow for adults using multiple daily injections (MDI).

A PWA today, with a more local future in mind

Bolus Master can be added to a phone’s Home Screen. After an earlier connected load, the cached app shell can support a calculator launch in offline mode on that device. Connected CGM, account sync, Strava, and other network services pause until internet returns; manual glucose and trend entry remains the fallback.

Built from lived experience

Built by someone managing Type 1 diabetes on MDI.

I have lived with Type 1 diabetes for 23 years. I appreciate what automated insulin delivery and continuous glucose monitoring can offer, but I eventually chose multiple daily injections after struggling with infusion sites, occlusions, device management, and alarm fatigue.

MDI gave me a workflow in which I remained more directly engaged in each treatment decision. It also created a new challenge: I had to keep track of more context myself, including insulin on board (IOB), corrections, dose timing, food, carbohydrate ratios, exercise, and what I actually logged.

The last time I woke up in the middle of the night with the fire department in my bedroom, I knew I needed a clearer way to keep IOB and the surrounding decision context visible. That moment is part of why Bolus Master exists. It is not a promise that software can prevent an emergency; it is a personal reason for making the decision trail easier to review.

I did not start with a plan to build a health product. I started with the ordinary difficulty of trying to remember what I had considered, what I had entered, what I actually did, and what I could learn later. The more I used MDI, the more I wanted the record of a decision to be easier to inspect—not more mysterious.

IOB should be easy to find when context matters.

Bolus Master is being shaped to keep insulin on board visible alongside the other user-entered context, while leaving interpretation and action with the user and their established care plan.

A founder’s workflow, open to challenge.

My experience shapes the starting point. It does not prove that the workflow fits everyone. That is why the first review is intentionally small and focused on clarity, integrity, privacy, and the places where another person may see something I missed.

For people who want to understand the trail, not just see a number.

Bolus Master is being shaped for adults using MDI who want their inputs, reminders, actions, and later observations to remain connected enough to review. The product does not remove uncertainty. It makes more of the decision context visible.

One transparent model

Calculate. Log. Remind. Learn.

Bolus Master keeps four different jobs separate so users and reviewers can understand what the software calculated, what the person recorded, what the device only reminded them about, and what was observed afterward.

01

Calculate

Applies the insulin settings and current inputs supplied by the user, with a visible mathematical breakdown.

02

Log

Records what the user reports actually taking or doing, even when that differs from an estimate.

03

Remind

Supports user-selected meal and exercise timing with device-local timers and notifications.

04

Learn

Organizes later glucose outcomes and recurring associations for retrospective review.

Why Bolus Master

The MDI workflow deserves its own system.

Bolus Master is being developed from the lived reality of managing Type 1 diabetes with injections: separate devices, separate records, context that changes, and a need to understand what happened later.

Explore the complete workflow

Mobile first

Designed for the phone in the moment, with a signed-in experience that can also be reviewed on desktop.

Context aware

Meal timing, exercise, temporary user-defined factors, trends, and active insulin remain visible for review.

History that converges

Account-backed settings and dose History support a consistent view across signed-in devices.

Built to look back

Analytics, worksheets, saved outcomes, and reports help users review their own records over time.

Important by design.

Bolus Master does not administer insulin, diagnose, prescribe treatment, replace an established care plan, or prove that an observed association caused an outcome.

Current status

A working product entering controlled peer review.

The current goal is focused review of the MDI use case, usability, calculation transparency, data integrity, privacy, and where the product could be misunderstood. Access is provided individually while early observations are addressed.
